Edwardsville, IL · Bakery & Cafe

Back at 222.where the regulars saved our seat.

An artisan bakery and cafe brought back by the community that wouldn’t let us go. Friends gather over warm bread. Regulars hold the same seats before the door is even open. We saved one for you, too.

Like stepping into your grandma’s house during the holidays. Cozy and warm. You’re always treated like you’ve been a regular your whole life.

Our story

The bakery the communitybrought back.

222 Artisan Bakery stood at 222 N Main Street for years. A changing landscape closed our doors for more than a year. The neighbors who used to stop in every Saturday morning would not let us stay gone. They rallied. They asked.

When we found our new home a few blocks over, the city itself granted us the address 222 St. Louis Street so we could keep the 222 we earned. Trevor still answers your email. The coffee is still roasted in-house. Sundays still smell like sourdough.

Boulangerie · Pâtisserie · Viennoiserie

Three French traditions, baked fresh at 222.

On the bread board, in the pastry case, and on the croissant rack. Every morning we work all three.

Boulangerie

The classics, baked daily.

Rye, sourdough, brioche, multigrain. And like a true boulangerie, we have baguettes and more. Made fresh. We’ll slice it for you here.

Pâtisserie

Macarons, tarts, and the sweet stuff.

On certain days we make macarons. The pastry case rotates with fruit tarts, Danish, and the seasonal specials. Custom orders when time allows.

Viennoiserie

Layered dough, every morning.

Not just a French bakery. We layer the dough for croissants, brioche, and the cinnamon rolls regulars order before we even open.

The cafe

Drip, espresso, and the best chai in town.

Every bean served at 222 is roasted in-house. Trevor also owns Plaid Coffee, a roastery a few minutes from the bakery, where the coffee program lives. That means the beans are fresh, the pour is intentional, and the espresso bar has a real reason to be here.

Stay for the chai. Regulars insist it is the best in town and we are inclined to agree.
